G-A roundup: Volleyball, field hockey suffer defeats

Northern York 3, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Polar Bears allowed the Blue Devils to win only game in their Mid Penn Colonial contest Thursday night in Dillsburg.

Northern won 25-17 in the first game, then Greencastle (2-3, 1-1 MPC) evened it out by gutting out a 27-25 win in the next game. But the Bears retaliated with with two more victories (25-12, 25-19) to earn the match.

For the Blue Devils, freshman Avery Watson led the team in two stat categories — 7 kills and 13 service points and added 10 digs. Kira Johnson racked up 13 assists, 8 digs and 2 aces, while Hayden Baer had 2 blocks, 5 points and 2 aces.

In addition, Jordyn Wagner produced 5 kills and a pair of blocks, Ryane Kueppers contributed 4 kills and 5 points, Chloe Young led with 3 blocks, Alyssa Petty dug up 12 balls, Alex Seville had 6 digs and Terryn Bard assisted on 9 balls.

East Pennsboro 1, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Panthers scored the only goal of the game and took home a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Blue Devils at Kaley Field on Thursday evening.

“We struggled to capitalize on our crosses and shots in the circle tonight,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “We know what we need to work on and will adjust for our next game.

“Our midfield put in a lot of work today. Serenity Goodman had some fantastic runs with Natalie Medina down the field.”

Goalie Katy Bream was credited with 4 saves for the Blue Devils (1-2, 0-1 MPC).
