Chbg. roundup: CD outlasts Trojan volleyball team in marathon match

Central Dauphin 3, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans won an unbelievable marathon first game over the Rams, but CD was able to recover and win the final three sets to pick up a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Thursday night in Linglestown.

Chambersburg (2-1, 0-1 MPC) and the Rams played a tight match throughout, but Central Dauphin prevailed in the last 3 games 27-25, 30-28 and 25-19.

“This was a marathon match between two evenly-matched teams,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “We did some nice things throughout the match, but we also struggled to make adjustments when we needed to.”

Kasey Moser led in 3 stat categories for Chambersburg, tallying 15 kills, 3 blocks and 29 digs. Olivia Shearer scored 13 kills and Maddie Rydbom and Ayla Whitely each knocked down 9. Kylee Perry added 2 blocks.

Perry and Myers split 48 assists, with Perry getting 28 of them. Natalie Miller led with 13 service points and added 13 digs, Perry and Myers each had 8 points and Lizzy Porter was credited with 19 digs.

Frelin said, “We served tough and picked up some stuff defensively. But CD just outlasted us.”
