Chambersburg 5, Red Land 0: The Trojans opened their girls tennis season on Monday afternoon by shutting out Red Land in a non-league match on the road.

Chambersburg won all five matches in straight sets, starting with No. 1 singles, where Leah Wadel earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Olivia Keller followed at No. 2 by posting a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Nina Kuchar finished off singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.

At No. 1 doubles, the Trojan team of Gretta Hill and Aria Barberio blitzed their opponents, 6-0, 6-4, while at No. 2, Kendall Temcheck and Sophie Keller rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Chambersburg coach Niko Mucci said, “I was extremely proud of the girls today. Sophie Keller and Kendall Temcheck got victories in their first varsity matches, which was very exciting. Overall, it was a good first step in what’s hopefully going to be a very strong season for us.”
