Chambersburg 17, Cedar Cliff 7: The Trojans halted a 2-game losing skid by handling the Colts in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Tuesday afternoon in New Cumberland.
Chambersburg (9-7, 8-7 MPC) had scored just 10 goals total in its last two games.
“Cedar Cliff was very chippy, and our guys showed a tremendous amount of composure and restraint,” Trojan coach Joe Wilmot said.
Matt Tucker led the scoring for Chambersburg with 7 goals, Ryan Cosey scored 5 times, Braylen Davis had 3 goals and Blake Dupont added 2 goals.
Davis also had 3 assists, and Dupont and Blake Hitchens each had 2 assists.
Wilmot said, “Braylen Davis played a fantastic game all-around and made good decisions with the ball. He is now our single-season freshman record holder in every statistical category.”
GIRLS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 14, Cedar Cliff 7: The Trojans reversed an earlier loss to the Colts at Trojan Stadium on Tuesday night, outscoring their opponent 7-1 in the second quarter of their Mid Penn Commonwealth matchup.
“The girls knew coming into the game the implications it had and they rose to the occasion,” Chambersburg coach Shane Henry said. “I am really proud of how they’re playing right now; they’re peaking at the right time of the season.
“Both teams got into foul trouble — they had five yellow cards and we had four. It was called really tight.”
Goalie Reese Heverley made 15 saves to reach the 300 mark for her career. Reagan Barrett scored 5 goals to surpass Hannah Raines’ career goals total of 162, and went over the 200-point mark for her career.
Brynn Sekel scored 4 goals and collected 2 assists and 2 draw controls for Chambersburg (10-6, 10-5 MPC). Kaitlyn Brady scored twice, had an assist, 4 groundballs, 2 caused turnovers and 3 draws. Also, Adele Henry had a goal and 2 assists, Savannah White had a goal and 4 draws and Callie Yardley-Gontz scored a goal.
Coach Henry said, “These ladies challenged every groundball and worked as a complete unit to secure this win. They fed off the crowd noise in the stadium.”
