Chambersburg 2, Shippensburg 0: The Trojans picked up their third straight win and second straight shutout to open the season by taking a non-league victory over the Greyhounds in Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon.
Chambersburg (3-0) starter Brady Truett allowed only 3 hits in 6 innings, walking 2 and striking out 6. He walked the first batter in the bottom of the seventh, but Matt Murphy relieved and induced a double-play grounder and got the final out on another ground ball.
Trojan coach Scott Folmar said, “Brady was very good — he threw a lot of strikes. And our defense played well again. We made all the routine plays and turned a couple of double plays. That one in the seventh started on a nice play by shortstop Aaron Vasquez.”
In the top of the third inning Devon Nalewak earned a leadoff walk and stole second base. Konner McMullen was hit by a pitch. After an out, Chambersburg went ahead 1-0 when Ryne Mills singled to center to score Nalewak.
The Trojans came back with another run in the fourth. Ceagan Truett led off with a base hit to right and advanced to third after two straight groundball outs. Nalewak delivered a grounder that got into right field and scored Truett.
Shippensburg (2-2) got hits from Brady Maciejewski, Patrick Eichelberger and Braiden Carroll.
