Greencastle-Antrim 8, Bermudian Springs 0: The Blue Devils scored runs in each of the first 3 innings and 2 pitchers combined for a 2-hitter in a non-league victory over the Eagles on the road Friday afternoon.
Lydia Pryke pitched the first 5.1 innings for Greencastle (3-0) and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 8, while walking 6. Katie Zawilinski relieved her and gave up a hit with 3 strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Of her 24 pitches, 17 were for strikes.
Kindal Rice paced the offense by going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles. Danica Murphy knocked in a pair of runs as G-A took advantage of 4 walks and 3 errors by Bermudian Springs.
Greencastle led 3-0 already when it put up a 4-spot in the third inning. With one out, Kylie Kerns reached on a dropped third strike, Rice followed with a double and a wild pitch brought Kerns in. Miranda Martin and Alli Logsdon walked to load the bases.
Two runs scored on Murphy’s grounder, which caused 2 Eagles errors, and a fielder’s choice grounder by Alivia Updyke plated the fourth run of the inning.
