G-A roundup: Softball team opens with strong win

SOFTBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 15, Delone Catholic 5: Coming off a season in which the Blue Devils were the PIAA Class 5A runner-up, G-A started the 2026 season with a 10-run non-league victory over the Squirettes on Thursday afternoon at home.

Greencastle scored at least 3 runs in all four of the innings in which it batted. The Blue Devils had 9 hits, drew 5 walks and Delone made 4 errors.

Leadoff batter Paiton Gordon was 3-for-3, scored 4 times and drove in a run. Brooklyn Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a triple, and she and Kylie Kerns and Alli Logsdon each had a pair of RBIs.

Lydia Pryke pitched the first 2 innings, then Kiersten Swain entered and tossed 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits, to earn the win.
