McConnellsburg overpowers Fannett-Metal

BOYS BASKETBALL

McConnellsburg 79, Fannett Metal 23.  The Spartans came out strongest in the first quarter to establish dominance and an appreciable lead and continued leading each quarter to victory over host Fannett-Metal in an Inter-County Conference (ICC) game on February 2nd.   The Spartans outscored the Tigers 24-5, 22-6, 19-5 and finally 14-7, amassing a 56-point win.

Hoyt Glenn led the Spartans with 22 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.  Karson Washabaugh had a big game with 11 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Off the bench, Kaden Marpoe added 11 points, eight rebounds, and a block. Shaffer Earley also had eight points and seven rebounds.  Ten players scored in total.

The Tigers (1-11, 0-6 ICC-S) were led by Colton Daniel with 11 points, followed by Gage McClure with five.

Also, the Spartans varsity boys basketball team clinched the ICC South Division. They will play the West Division champs in the ICC semifinals at Claysburg on February 13 at 6:45. The winner will then play for the ICC championship on February 14 at Claysburg.
