GIRLS WRESTLING
Chambersburg wins 3 matches: Waynesboro hosted the Mindy Rouzer Dual Tournament on Sunday and the Trojans went 3-1 for the day.
Chambersburg (10-5) was defeated 51-24 by state-ranked Central Dauphin 51-24, then beat Waynesboro 60-12, Eastern York 66-12 and Biglerville 69-12.
“We closed the gap in team score a bit against CD, then handled our business in the other three,” Trojan coach Josh Sherman said. “You can see the progress in this team each week and it quite exciting.”
Emily Shaffner (100), Reagan Evans (136) and Makenna Lowe (155) were all 4-0 for the day and Aulana Stanton was 3-0 (170). Stanton won by medical default over CD’s previously unbeaten Ashley Hoffman.
Sherman said, “She took Hoffman down and she escaped. Aulana was in the process of taking her down again when Hoffman hurt her knee.”
Also for Chambersburg, Jessica Li (106), Piper Jones (130), Alba Rojas (142), Hadyn Fritz (148) and Lillybeth Alcantaras all went 3-1.
“I was really happy at the effort of some of our young wrestlers,” Sherman said. “Alba Rojas had a real nice day and Alejandra Cole-Rosales and Cortlyn Finkle were both 1-1.”
