The Southern Fulton Indians girls’ varsity team opened their season in dominant fashion on Wednesday night, defeating the Meyersdale Red Raiders 56–33. Southern Fulton controlled the game from the outset, posting quarter scores of 13–7, 17–7, 17–13, and 9–6 on their way to the convincing victory.
Junior Harvey set the tone with a standout all-around performance, leading the Indians with 20 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds. Her composure and playmaking helped fuel the offense throughout the night.
Freshman Hull made an impressive varsity debut, adding 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, providing energy and strong two-way play. Johnson contributed 9 points, knocking down key shots to help extend the lead.
In the post, Hoopengardner delivered a gritty performance with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal, protecting the paint and disrupting the Red Raiders inside. Schrieveradded 3 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, and 1 block, and her defensive presence proved crucial, consistently applying pressure limiting the Red Raiders performance.
Pittman chipped in 2 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, while freshman Hixon recorded an assist and a steal in her first varsity appearance.
Southern Fulton’s balanced scoring, aggressive defense, and strong rebounding effort powered them to a decisive season-opening victory. The Indians will look to build on this momentum as they continue into the early stretch of the season.
