Mechanicsburg 54, Greencastle-Antrim 53: Jacob Eager dropped in a 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Wildcats to a season-opening win over the tough-luck Blue Devils on Wednesday night in a non-league barnburner in Mechanicsburg.
Greencastle had just taken the lead with about 25 seconds left when Dez Holman made a nice pass inside and Cooper Green scored on a layup.
The young Blue Devil squad — which has just one senior and four freshmen — got 17 points from Holman and 14 from Green (both freshmen) and 13 from senior Alex Albright.
G-A made a living at the free throw line, hitting 15 of 28 attempts, while the Wildcats were 2-for-3.
Mechanicsburg was led by Eager’s 26 points.
