G-A roundup: Field hockey team edges CD East

Natalie Medina

FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 2, Central Dauphin East 1: The Blue Devils got a late goal from Rowan Shubert and took a narrow Mid Penn Colonial victory on Tuesday afternoon in Colonial Park.

Natalie Medina, who scored the first goal for Greencastle (8-5, 6-5 MPC) and now has 20 for the season, brought the ball upfield and took a shot. The East goalie blocked the shot, but the rebound went to Caroline Barnes, who fed Shubert for the game-winner with just 23.9 seconds left in regulation.

“It was a back-and-forth game,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “They had 15 corners, but we defended them all successfully except for one. After the last goal, they had one last corner we had to defend and we did.”

Shubert was also credited with an earlier assist for the Blue Devils, goalie Rebecca Jones made 11 saves and Maggie Spidel made 1 defensive save.
