Trojans compete in Mid Penns: Chambersburg has advanced one doubles team to the District 3 Championships after play Friday in the Mid Penn Conference tournament at CD East.

The Trojans’ district doubles team of Leah Wadel and Charlie Kalathas played Mechanicsburg for third place in the Mid Penn (top 4 teams qualify for districts) and pulled out a tough 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory.

The District 3 doubles tournament begins Oct. 17 at Hershey Racquet Club.

At No. 1 singles, Wadel won a back draw match vs. a player from Lower Dauphin (6-4, 6-3) and will play again Monday in an effort to capture fifth place.

Also on Monday, Kalathas will play in the No. 2 singles championship match. In the semifinals, she rallied to defeat Lower Dauphin’s No. 2 player, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Chambersburg’s No. 2 doubles team also played in the semifinals Friday, but were eliminated 6-4, 6-4 by a team from Central Dauphin.
