GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Bermudian Springs 1: The Blue Devils had a wake-up call Thursday night in a quality non-league matchup against the Eagles in York Springs, but rallied for its 12th straight win.
Bermudian Springs (9-3) came up with a first-game win, 25-21. But Greencastle (12-0), won three straight tight sets, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-19.
The G-A defense was led by Wren Roberts (21 digs), Abby Eagler (21), Kinzee Hudson (19) and Kaitlyn Alvey (10), and by Jordyn Wagner (4 blocks), and Hayleigh Lowe and Hayden Baer (2 blocks each).
The service points were very spread out between Alvey (9), Kylie Kerns (8), Eagler (8) and Roberts (6), while Eagler produced 4 aces.
On offense, Alvey (23) and Kerns (22) led in assists, and Eagler (20), Kerns (19) and Roberts (7) led in kills. Kerns connected on 19 of 31 kill attempts (.419).
GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 3, West Perry 2, OT: The Blue Devils reversed an earlier loss to the Mustangs by grabbing a Mid Penn Colonial win in overtime in Elliottsburg on Thursday evening.
“It was another tough win,” G-A coach Jonathan Lewis said. “West Perry is a very strong team and gave us all we could handle. But this young team dug deep and pulled it out in overtime. Couldn’t be prouder.”
Braelyn Cordell had a hand in all three goals for Greencastle, which has won 3 of its last 4 games and is now 5-8 (5-5 MPC).
Cordell scored twice and assisted on a goal by Jaylynn Lewis, while Caterina Marchiano had an assist.
