CHAMBERSBURG AT CEDAR CLIFF
Game data: Trojans at Colts on Friday at West Shore Stadium, 7 p.m. … Mid Penn Commonwealth game … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
Last week: Chambersburg (2-3, 1-3 MPC) was blanked 40-0 by State College … Cedar Cliff (2-3, 2-2 MPC) absorbed a 42-0 loss to Harrisburg.
The opponent: The Colts’ two wins came over Central Dauphin and CD East … Cedar Cliff appears to favor the passing game a little more than usual — QB Jalen Hinton has connected on 53 of 104 passes for 759 yards, 4 TDs and 5 picks … Four receivers have figured prominently into the attack — Blake Secrest (13-201, 1 TD), Owen Anastasi (7-172), 1), Isaiah Jones (8-104) and Amarion Aubry (9-100) … The top rushers are Landon Howell, with 86 carries for 344 yards and 4 scores, and Alex Otero, with 35 carries for 104 yards.
Coach’s viewpoint: Chambersburg coach Gary Carter said, “Cedar Cedar will throw the ball around a little — they have some good athletes. That should be a good matchup against our secondary. But they also have a jumbo package and go wildcat with (Howell, 5-11, 205) taking the snap. And they’re big up front. Our offense did not have good field position last week, but we have to be able to finish drives better — not turn it over and not take penalties.”
Unsung: Carter said that (LB) Brady Rosenberry was in on a bunch of tackles last week, that (RB) Malachi Tasker had some good runs, and that (QB) Cam Green improved a lot over the previous week.
Statistics: Trojan leaders: Passing — Cam Green 35-for-72 (49%), 401 yards, 2 TDs, 6 int. … Rushing — Malachi Tasker 59 carries, 135 yards … Receiving — Davonte Scott 26 catches for 234 yards, 2 TDs; Cobe Penick 19-202, 3 TDs; Isaiah Tasker 11-110, 2 TDs; M.Tasker 7-68; Cooper Stockslager 6-66.
GREENCASTLE-ANTRIM AT TRINITY
Game data: Blue Devils at Shamrocks on Friday, 7 p.m., at COBO Field … Mid Penn Colonial game … Live stream on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
Last week: Greencastle (1-4, 1-3 MPC) lost a 27-17 verdict to Big Spring … Trinity (3-2, 2-1 MPC) picked up a 17-6 victory over Milton Hershey.
The opponent: One of the Shamrocks’ losses came against Big Spring … Quarterback Mason Boyer has completed 64 of 100 passes (64%) for 703 yards, 6 TDs and 5 interceptions … He has two main targets in Maddox Jarzynski (25 catches, 398 yards, 3 TDs) and Marcus Yeager (20-154, 2) … The top rushers include Adonis Sutton (39-186), Brandon Harris (30-144) and Sean Atkins (50-126).
Coach’s viewpoint: “Trinity will spread the ball around, and they get the ball to those two receivers (Jarzynski and Yeager) a lot,” G-A coach Jason Thurston said. “We’ll need to get pressure on their quarterback. Our offense did well in the first half moving the ball and eating up some clock last week, but we need to get better field position this week. It would probably help us to keep the score low.”
Unsung: Thurston said, “Lars Galinanes had some nice carries last week. If we could get him going, along with (Blake) Reuter, that’d be a nice 1-2 punch. And when Blake went out for a while last week, Asher Whitson came in and ran the ball well. He made the most of the touches he got.”
Statistics: G-A leaders: Rushing — Blake Reuter 58-461, 5 TDs; Lars Galinanes 61-249, 1; Noah Shifflett 20-78 … Passing — Lane Barry 24-59, 283 yards, 2 TDs, 3 int. … Receiving — Shifflett 5-99, 1 TD; Wyatt Hull 7-90, Galinanes 6-61.
