BOYS SOCCER: McConnellsburg 3, Windber 0:  On September 20th, the McConnellsburg Spartans (10-0, 4-0 ICC-E) traveled to face the Windber Ramblers in an exciting cross-conference matchup. From the opening whistle, the Spartans maintained control of the game, ultimately securing a convincing 3-0 victory and continuing their impressive unbeaten streak.

Hoyt Glenn was a dominant presence at the center-midfield position, notching a hat-trick to lead the Spartans offensively with all three goals. Jackson Skiles and Jace Fletcher each had an assist.  Defensively, goalkeeper Reese Alexander recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

Next up, the Spartans will travel to challenge ICC rival Southern Huntingdon County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, then host Everett in a cross-conference game at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER: McConnellsburg 1, Windber 2:  The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans (7-2, 5-1 ICC-S) traveled to face the Windber Lady Ramblers in an ICC South contest on September 20th. The game was played under the lights on Windber’s turf field, where both teams demonstrated strong defensive efforts and competitive play throughout the match.

The first half was evenly matched, with both teams making several attempts at goal but ultimately keeping the score level at 0-0 due to solid defensive play on both sides.

Two minutes in the second half, the Lady Spartans broke the deadlock. Marin DeShong scored the team’s only goal, capitalizing on a follow-up opportunity after a corner kick delivered by Serinity Rengifo.

With eight minutes remaining in the game, Windber tied the match, scoring on a short breakaway. The Ramblers then took advantage of another opportunity in the sixth minute, breaking through the Spartan fullback defense to score their second and final goal of the night.
