GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 16, Central Dauphin 47: The Trojans had a comfortable start to the dual meet season, cruising past the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet at Linglestown on Tuesday afternoon.
The first four finishers for Chambersburg (1-0, 1-0 MPC) included Natalie Quinn (1st, 21:52), Brook Boone (2nd, 22:04), Lillian Spohn (3rd, 22:21) and Kaylie Savage (4th, 22:30).
Trojan coach Chris Monheim said, “It was nice to use the race as a workout. We have a big opportunity Saturday at Kutztown in a loaded field, so we held some of the girls back today.”
The next group of Chambersburg runners included Arrabella Rife (6th, 23:08), Isabel Clark (7th, 24:04), Taliya Raber (8th, 24:10) and Maggie Holtry (9th, 24:26).
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 16, Central Dauphin 47: The Trojans sent 16 of the first 18 runners across the line and dominated the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth race Tuesday afternoon in Linglestown.
“We ‘trained through’ our first dual meet,” Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said. “The team started out controlled, ran in a few tight packs and focused on finishing the last mile strong. It was great to see our three captains plus Cole Lehman and Boston Vncenti grab the points.”
Captains Aiden Alleman and Julian Clark tied for first with a time of 18:54 for the Trojans (1-0, 1-0 MPC). Lehman and Vincenti were 3-4 at 19:09. The other captain, Isaac Stepan (19:44) took fifth. Also finishing in the top 10 were Tobias Willson (7th, 19:48), Brian Morales (8th, 19:57) and Aaron Goshorn (10th, 2010).
GIRLS TENNIS
Chambersburg 5, Mifflin County 0: The Trojans continued some good play early in the season, sweeping all five matches against the Huskies in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match at Norlo Park.
Charlie Kalathas and Olivia Keller dominated at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, Kalathas winning 6-1, 6-0 and Keller taking a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
No. 1 singles was a closer match, but Leah Wadel of Chambersburg (3-2, 1-1 MPC) took a 6-4, 7-6 win over Maddy Clinard.
Gwen Sefcheck and Gretta Hill picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 Issie Slimmer and Nina Kuchar.
