Chambersburg 0, Mechanicsburg 0: The Trojans owned the stats, but the Wildcats’ defense kept them off the scoreboard in a scoreless Mid Penn Commonwealth game Wednesday night at Trojan Stadium.
Chambersburg (1-0-2, 1-0-1 MPC) led in shots (17-5) and corner kicks (7-4). Goalkeeper Tyson Shanholtz made 2 saves.
“Mechanicsburg is another tough opponent who made states last year,” Trojan coach Corey Grove said. “I thought the boys put in another excellent performance and put ourselves in great position to win. Their keeper played a fantastic game and made some incredible saves to deny us on some good chances.”
Chambersburg has not allowed a goal in its first 3 games.
Grove said, “Another clean sheet and a great performance by our back line, and I thought Edwin Ramirez was one of he best players on the field. He covered so much ground, was physical and relentless in pursuit of the ball.”
GIRLS SOCCER
Mechanicsburg 4, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans had a tough time denting the Wildcat defense and suffered a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat on Wednesday night on the road.
“They are a high-quality side,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said. “They were organized and quite effective in neutralizing our attacking threats. We hope to bounce back tomorrow at home against Washington, WV.
“Our goalkeeper, Ashley Mitchell, did a fantastic job of being aggressive off her line and successfully snuffing out several opponents’ chances.”
