Blue Devils take 2nd: Greencastle-Antrim produced its best result of the season on Tuesday, finishing second in a Mid Penn Colonial match at Great Cove G.C.

The Blue Devils (11-13) trailed only Gettysburg (327 strokes) with their score of 333. James Buchanan (16-8) took third while playing on its home course, Shippensburg ((18-6) was fourth and Waynesboro (9-15) placed fifth. Ship and Northern are tied for first place.

For Greencastle, Camden Eby fired a 3-over par 77 to take third place, Carter Kobel tied for 7th with  an 83 and Bryce Davidson shot 84 to tie for 11th.

“I was really proud of Carter Kobel and Jex McDowell (89) were competing in only their second varsity match,” G-A coach Jeremy Eby said. “Our whole team is starting to see the benefits of the hard work they are putting in at practice.”

JB’s Abram Stock was 4th with a 78 and Avery Hoffeditz (84) tied for 11th. The Greyhounds’ Ben Horgas posted a 76 to take second place, while ‘Boro’s top player was Landon Crable, tied for 5th, with an 82.

Kaydee Beckenbaugh put up an 87 and was the top girls finisher.

Greencastle-Antrim 3, West Perry 0: The Blue Devils opened their season with a comfortable match at home against their Mid Penn Colonial opponent West Perry on Tuesday evening.

The scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-13.

Abby Eagler led the way in the stat department with 14 kills, 10 serving points and 4 aces.

Also for the Blue Devils, Kaitlyn Alvey had 11 points and 18 assists, Kylie Kerns equaled her with 18 assists, plus 4 aces, and Kinzee Hudson put up 12 points and 10 digs.

Wren Roberts racked up 7 kills, and Jordyn Wagner added 6 kills.
