Chambersburg 0, Manheim Township 0: The Trojans opened their season against a District 3 powerhouse and tied the Blue Streaks 0-0 in a non-league game. at Trojan Stadium.

“Overall, I was pleased with the performance,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “For the first game, against a top team in the district, I thought we showed grit and toughness.”

Chambersburg came close to scoring twice — Noah Brena hit a wicked free kick that the Manheim Twp. keeper saved, and late in the second overtime, Edwin Ramirez headed the ball off the post.

Grove said, “Our defense played an outstanding game. We rotated in Anton (Winter), Adan (Barrientos), Noah, Eli (Herbert), Will Smith and Bramere (Pittman).

“And Tyson Shanholtz played a great game in goal. He was quick off his line and commanded the 18 box.”

The Trojans held slight leads in shots (11-9) and corners (6-5); Shanholttz had 5 saves.
