JB places 2nd, G-A 4th in opener: The Mid Penn Colonial Division held its first golf match of the season at Greencastle Golf Club on Wednesday and James Buchanan nearly pulled out a team win.

The Rockets finished with 334 strokes and were edged by Northern (333). Shippensburg was third (344), Greencastle-Antrim was fourth (350) and Waynesboro was sixth (367).

For the host Blue Devils, Camden Eby was fifth with a score of 78 and Landon Summers tied for 15th with an 88. Other scorers for Greencastle were Conner Wilhide 90, Jaxon Sobel (94) and Bryce Davidson (95).

G-A coach Jeremy Eby said, “Camden’s round was very solid considering today’s conditions at a tough venue like Greencastle. He had two birdies on par 5s on the front nine. He really controlled the mental aspect of his game today.”

James Buchanan had the two lowest-scoring players — Taylor Blair shot 74 and Abram had a 75. Adam Hoffeditz came in next with an 84.

For Shippensburg, Kaydee Hockenberry shot an 83 to place 7th and Landon Crable was sxith for Waynesboro with an 81.
