The Blue Devils scored 3 runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to end the game in the fifth via the run rule in a 10-0 verdict over Lower Dauphin.

No. 1 seed G-A (18-2) will now host a semifinal game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal between No. 13 Shippensburg (13-7) and No. 5 Red Land (16-3).

Swain’s shutout included 3 hits, zero walks and 5 strikeouts. She faced the minimum number of batters in the final 4 innings after the Falcons threatened in the top of the first with a pair of singles. But two strikeouts and a fielder’s choice got Swain (10-1) out of the jam.

LD’s only other hit led off the fifth, but the runner was doubled up at first base after a catch in right field by Kaidyn Zimmerman.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils got on the board in the first when Zhen Reuter led off with a triple and was brought home on a single by Meadow Gambacurta.

In the third, hits by Reuter and Caroline Logsdon got a rally going. They both scored on a single by Zimmerman and a Lower Dauphin error, and Kylie Kerns, who had walked, scored on a grounder by Erika Hoover.

Three more runs were plated in the fourth inning. Bailey Leckron walked to lead off and was bunted to second by Paiton Gordon. Reuter walked and, after the second out, Gambacurta smacked a double to score both runners. Kerns then belted a double to bring in Gambacurta and make the score 7-0.

Hoover and Kindal Rice opened the fifth with base hits and Leckron sacrificed them up a base. Gordon then poked a double to score both runners, and Reuter singled to bring in Gordon with the game-ending run.

Reuter was 3-for-3, while Gambacurta and Zimmerman each had a pair of hits for G-A. Gambacurta piled up 3 runs batted in, and Zimmerman and Gordon each had 2 RBIs.
