The Southern Fulton Indians (19-1) started the District V playoffs a little slow but broke the game wide open with 10 runs in the fourth inning and defeated the Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings 15-0 on Tuesday in Warfordsburg.
Southern Fulton got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Shanksville committed an error, and Jett Burger homered to left field, each scoring one run.
Southern Fulton Indians added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Burger singled to center field, Fitz doubled down the right field line, and Mann hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
The big 4th inning erupted when Paul Hendershot doubled, scoring one run, Mark Fitz drew a walk, scoring one run, Austin Mann was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Owen Oakman singled, scoring three runs, Colt Mann singled, scoring one run, and Hendershot singled, scoring two runs.
FR, Colt Mann earned the win for Southern Fulton. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Grant Boozer took the loss for Shanksville. The starter went three and one-third innings, giving up 11 runs (10 earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking six. Cam Cain pitched one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for Southern Fulton Indians in relief. The hurler allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking two.
Hendershot drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Indians with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Hendershot, Burger, and Mann each collected two hits for the home team.
The Indians will host the Northern Bedford Black Panthers (6-0 victors over Meyersdale) in the District V semifinals on Thursday at 4:30pm.
