McConnellsburg Falls in D5 2A Play-In to Tussey Mountain

McConnellsburg 0 Tussey Mountain 13

McConnellsburg.  In a reversal of game just days before, where the Spartans shut out Tussey Mountain at their field in the final game of the regular season, the Spartans hosted the Tussey Mountain Titans for the District 5 Class 2A play-in playoff game on Monday but instead were shut out.  The loss dashed the Spartan’s plan for the semifinal round and ended the season.  A fifth-inning spurt led the Titans past the Spartans and onto the semifinals with #1 seed Conemaugh Township on Thursday.

The Titans got on board in the fourth when a double, scored one run.  In the fifth inning, they scored eight runs mainly through singles, baserunning, batters being struck by pitch, and an error.  In the seventh inning, they added four more runs.  They collected 10 hits in the game.

Camden Chilcote earned the win for the Titans. The starting pitcher went the distance and gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.

Kohen Hall took the loss for the Spartans. The starter went four and one third innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one.  Hoyt Glenn, Kayden Marpoe and Finn Kuhn pitched in relief a total of two and two-thirds innings and gave up eight runs on five hits striking out five and walking four.

Reese Alexander and Ben Sattazahn collected one hit for the Spartans.

The Spartans end the season with a record of 11-10.
