Fannett- Metal Wins Fifth Straight With Victory Over Claysburg-Kimmel

Fannett-Metal (10-3) avenged an early season loss to the visiting Bulldogs with a 8-5 win on Tuesday.  The Bulldogs had beaten the Tigers on April 4th with a grand slam late in the game to record the 9-6 win.

In Tuesday’s rematch the Tigers struck first in the bottom the first to take a 1-0 lead.  Landon Arnold turned a single into a double by hustling out of the box and beating the throw to second.  He moved to 3rd on a Wade Appleby error.  Designated Hitter Nick Naugle hit a sacrifice fly to score Arnold.

The Tigers extended the lead to 3-0 in the second inning with a pair of runs off Bulldog’s starter Gavin Trevon.

Tucker Seibert led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a groundout by Logan Hall.  Broc Hostler’s RBI single plated Seibert.  Arnold moved Hostler into scoring position and he scored on a two out clutch RBI single by Wade Appleby.

The Bulldogs were struggling to get anything going against Tiger starter Logan Hall and the Tigers defense until the fourth inning.  They pushed one across in the fourth and then took the lead 4-3 in the fifth inning.

The Tigers immediately tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.  With one out Noah Naugle was hit by a pitch.  He moved to second on a ground out and scored on Logan Hall’s two out RBI single to tie the game 5-5.

In the pivotal sixth inning the Bulldogs would retake the lead 6-5.  The Tigers answered with a big four run inning and held the Bulldogs in the seventh to win their 5th straight game.

In the big inning Landon Arnold got things started with a single.  He moved to second and scored on Ayden Ryder’s hard RBI single that got past the right fielder.  Pitcher Treon reached his limit on the hit.

Bulldog reliever Landon Douglass had trouble finding the strike zone as Adam Hammond walked and Jake Coffman was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Noah Naugle drew another walk to score courtesy runner Kristan Koser.  Tucker Seibert then delivered a clutch two run knock to score Hammond and Coffman beat the throw to the plate to make it 8-5.

Wade Appleby relieved Hall in the seventh inning to get the save and secure the win for the Tigers.   “All eleven players had a part in this victory today. Total team effort and just a fun bunch of kids to coach,” Coffman said.

F-M starter Logan Hall turned in another solid pitching performance to lead the Tigers.  He went six innings, had seven hits, three walks and six strikeouts.  He gave up five runs with four earned.  “I can’t say enough about how Logan Hall has pitched for us this season.  He’s given us a solid start with each appearance”, Coffman said.

The Tigers visit Southern Fulton on Friday and then host the Indians on Monday in a pivotal two game series.
