Fannett-Metal Shuts Out Everett 5-0

Fannett-Metal Senior Pitcher Landon Arnold threw a complete game shutout in a dominating performance at Everett on Monday evening.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the first inning against Everett starting pitcher Owen Whitfield.  A strike out and fielder’s choice ended the threat.  Whitfield would go the distance in the complete game loss.

The Tigers broke through in the third inning when leadoff hitter Landon Arnold led off with a single.  Wade Appleby followed with a sharp single to put runners on first and second.  Ayden Ryder ripped a single to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  A ground ball double play ended the inning.

With Arnold keeping the Warriors bats quiet, the Tigers added a run in the 5th inning to go up 2-0.  Arnold again got things started with a single.  He swiped second and moved to third on a fly ball by Appleby.  Ayden Ryder stroked another RBI single to score Arnold.

The Tigers added three insurance runs in the top of the 7th inning.  Arnold singled and moved to second on a single by Wade Appleby.  Ayden Ryder moved both runners to second and third.  With one out Adam Hammond stroked a 2 run single scoring Arnold and Appleby.  Noah Naugle laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to plate Hammond and push the lead to 5-0.

The Warriors tried to rally in the 7th with a leadoff single and a walk.   But two strikeouts and a pop up to 3rd ended the game.

Offensively, the Tigers had 12 hits on the day.  The Tigers top of the order carried the Tigers bats today.  Landon Arnold, Wade Appleby and Ayden Ryder had three hits each.  Arnold scored three runs and Ryder had a pair of RBIs.  Adam Hammond had one hit and two RBIs.  Noah Naugle added a hit and one RBI.  Logan Hall had the other Tiger’s hit.
