G-A roundup: Track & field teams handle Big Spring

Greencastle-Antrim 93, Big Spring 48: The Blue Devils piled up a huge advantage on the track and collected a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon at Kaley Field.

Greencastle (2-1) had a pair of double winners on the track, where it outscored Big Spring 64-23.

Kadence Abbott picked up wins in the 100 hurdles (in 17.0) and in the 300 hurdles (53.8), while Nike Ellenberger won the 1600 (6:27.1) and the 3200 (13:38.5).

The Blue Devils also won all 3 relay races. The 4 x 800 team of Ava Linka, Anna Sullivan, Lily Black and Gabby Burns won in 14:22.8; the 4 x 100 team of Aqueelah Hogue, Abbott, Natalie Medina and Jaylynn Schmuck won in 54.2; and the 4 x 400 team of Hailey Baker, Sullivan, Abbott and Schmuck was first in 4:45.7.

In the field, Schmuck earned a pair of wins, taking the long jump (16-7) and triple jump (34-6.5), while Alannah Coleman won the javelin with a toss of 85-10.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 84, Big Spring 57: Thanks to a 60-27 margin in track events, the Blue Devils handed the Bulldogs a Mid Penn Colonial defeat on Tuesday afternoon at Kaley Field.

Greencastle (2-1, 2-1 MPC) won 10 of the 11 events on the track, with 4 athletes winning 8 of those.

Joel Amstutz took the 1600 (5:01.7) and 3200 (10:50.8); Spencer Long was a winner in the 100 (11.0) and 200 (23.1); Noah Parks won the 400 (54.2) and 800 (2:20.9) and Logan Andou captured both hurdles events, the 110 (17.8) and the 300 (47.9).

The 4 x 800 team of Logan Bohrer, Billy Bender, Amstutz and Joseph Lofton won in 12:49.5, and the 4 x 400 team of Parks, Ben Burcker, Andou and Cort Bradley was first in 4:40.9.

In the field, Adam Seylar won the triple jump with a leap of 38-7, and Caleb Fritz won the high jump at 5-0.
