BOYS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 15, Danville 14, 2 OT: The Trojans trailed nearly the entire game, but battled back to tie the Ironmen and then won in the second overtime period of the non-league clash Tuesday night at Trojan Stadium.
Matt Tucker fired in the game-winning goal for Chambersburg (4-5) to end a cold and windy night.
“”We were down 10-4 in the second quarter, 10-6 at the half and 11-7 after three quarters,” Trojan coach Joey Wilmot said. “But we outscored them 7-3 in the fourth when we went up-tempo. We had a ton of good looks in overtime, but hit a couple of posts and they made some saves. We had more good looks before we finally scored.
“The offense played great. Ryan Cosey had a big first half, so Danville decided to lock him down. But we were prepared for that and Matt Tucker stepped up with three second-half goals and the game-winner. Quinn Makosy was the best two-way middle today, and we did a tremendous job with our ride today, which created a ton of turnovers.”
Cosey ended up with 4 goals and 2 assists, Tucker had 5 goals, Blake Dupont scored 3 times and added an assist, Makosy had 3 goals and an assist and Tavian Ferguson also made an assist. Goalie Kellen Sanders made 10 saves. Jaxon Thomas earned a whopping 17 faceoffs.
Wilmot said, “The real MVP today was Jaxon — it was by far the best game he’s played this year. We had a faceoff specialist work with him yesterday and the adjustments he made made a huge difference.”
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
