McConnellsburg 1 Mount Union 2. The Spartans hosted the Mount Union Trojans for a cross-conference game on April 1st, a makeup date from March 24th when that game was postponed for rain after plating just six Trojan batters in the first inning.
Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, but Mount Union was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over the Spartans.
The Trojans were the first to get on the board in the first when Cody McClain hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The Trojans added one run in the third after Levi Hunsinger doubled down the left field line.
The Spartans added a run in the sixth inning when Kade Gress singled past third base, scoring Hoyt Glenn from second.
Kohen Hall started for the Spartans, pitched six innings and recorded 18 outs, taking the loss. He surrendered two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out seven and walking five; yet the first three walks were from the 3/24 date in rain conditions. Glenn pitched in relief one no-run inning and gave up one hit, striking out none, and walking none.
Cody McClain earned the win for the Trojans. He gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one. D. Yocum pitched two no-run innings in relief and gave up one hit, striking out two, and walking none.
Gress, Glenn, and Tucker Hedge each collected one hit for the Spartans. Gress, the first baseman, went 1-for-3 on the day and had the lone RBI. Glenn stole two bases, extending his streak to five games.

Next up: the Spartans travel to Forbes Road for an ICC game on Thursday at 430 PM.
