G-A roundup: Baseball team wins after 5-run 7th inning

BASEBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 5, Boiling Springs 4: It might have been a tough loss to take, since some Blue Devil errors had helped the Bubblers take a 4-0 lead, but a dramatic 5-run rally in the bottom of the seventh lifted G-A to a home Mid Penn Colonial victory Tuesday afternoon.

Landon Myers

“This was a character win,” Greencastle coach Eric Shaner said. “We were struggling at the plate, and we had too many walks and errors. But we stayed in it. It was nice to see them get rewarded for hanging in there. Ryder Linn gave us some good innings.”

Linn pitched the final 3 innings, allowing no runs or hits, to earn the victory.

For the Blue Devils (3-2, 2-1 MPC) in the seventh, Elvis Robles led off with a walk, followed by a walk to Bo Brookens. After an out, Avery Horst drew a walk to load the bases. Carter McCauley then lined a double down the leftfield line to score two runs. With two outs and two strikes on him, Landon Myers hit a line drive to right that was short-hopped by the right fielder and two runs came in to tie the game.

Ryder Martinez then drew a walk, and Nolan Sullivan grounded to second base. But the throw to get him at first base was wild, allowing Martinez to score the winning run.
