BOYS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 13, Central Dauphin East 4: The Trojans picked up their first win over the season Friday night over the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest at Trojan Stadium.
“It was good to get that first win under our belt,” Chambersburg coach Joey Wilmot said. “We relied heavily on our attack, which, I believe, scored 12 of our 13 goals.”
Ryan Cosey had a great night on offense, either tying or breaking the school record for goals in a game, but scoring stats were not yet available. Goalie Kellen Sanders came up with 14 saves for the Trojans (1-2, 1-2 MPC).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 17, Central Dauphin East 4: The Trojans’ offense got it going Friday afternoon on the road to enable them to dominate the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory.
“We controlled the draws and were able to convert those into points,” Chambersburg coach Shane Henry said. “I felt the girls played confidently. Having three games in the first week of the season was tough, but the ladies persevered and got the win today.”
Brynn Sekel produced 11 draw controls, 3 goals, 3 assists and 2 caused turnovers for the Trojans (1-2, 1-2 MPC). Reagan Barrett scored 4 times and Mara Costolo registered 3 goals.
Adele Henry scored 3 goals and added 3 assists, and on defense, Maryn Henry had 2 caused turnovers.
BOYS TENNIS
Hershey 5, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans did not have their No. 1 player available, but Hershey proved to be a strong opponent and Chambersburg suffered a shutout Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat on Friday afternoon at Norlo Park.
Dhruv Patel moved up to No. 3 singles for the Trojans (1-3 (0-1 MPC) and was dealt a 6-2, 6-1 loss by Aarav Tripathi.
No. 2 doubles was a 6-1, 6-2 defeat for Chambersburg’s Orran Neff and Frank Barra. At No. 1 doubles, Caden Brenize and Eli Keeler fell 6-0, 6-1 to their Hershey opponent.
THURSDAY
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Carlisle 3, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans visited the Thundering Herd on Thursday night and were defeated in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match.
The Herd took the first game 25-23, and the Trojans (1-2, 1-2 MPC) evened it up by winning 26-24. But Carlisle came back with 25-16 and 25-20 wins.
“The team battled through adversity the entire match,” Chambersburg coach Evan Misal said. “I’m very proud of the grit and composure we showed.”
Yazaan Safi led the Trojans with 10 kills and Joe Allison and Ben Etter each had 8, while Clayton Thompson put up 3 block kills.
Brady Eiker and Cael McDowell each had 2 aces, while 3 players had 6 digs each — Cael McDowell, Luke Dortenzo and Ben Etter.
