G-A roundup: Baseball, softball teams open with 10-0 wins

Greencastle-Antrim 10, Delone Catholic 0: The Blue Devils had an excellent start to the season, blanking the Squires in 6 innings in a non-league game at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Greencastle scored at least one run in every inning except the second, and racked up 10 hits.

The top hitters were Nolan Sullivan (3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Carter McCauley (3-for-4, 3 RBIs, double, triple) and Elvin Robles (2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, double).

Jaxson Bostick, Ben Horst and Avery Horst each pitched well for the Blue Devils, with Ben Horst getting the win, with 3 innings, 2 hits, no walks and 5 strikeouts. Bostick started and gave up 1 hit and struck out 5 in 2 innings.

Greencastle-Antrim 10, Delone Catholic 0: The Blue Devils looked sharp in their season opener Wednesday afternoon, handing the Squirettes a non-league, 5-inning defeat in McSherrystown.

Kiersten Swain pitched 4.1 innings of 1-hit ball, with no walks and 8 strikeouts, and Lydia Pryke finished up, getting the final 2 outs.

On offense, Kylie Kerns had a stellar day, going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, scoring 3 times and knocking in 3 runs.

Meadow Gambacurta was 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in, and Lily Crum also banged a double. Erika Hoover also brought in a pair of runs.
