Greencastle-Antrim 57, James Buchanan 54: The Rockets outscored the Blue Devils 33-25 in the second half, but couldn’t quite make up a 12-point halftime deficit in a non-league game Friday night in Greencastle.

Over the last 1:30, JB had to foul and G-A’s Alex Albright  went 4-for-6 at the free-throw line to keep G-A in front. James Buchanan (5-16, 2-11 MPC) trailed by 3 and called a time out with just over 10 seconds left. They ran a play for Drew Crouse coming off a couple of screens, but the Blue Devils’ Kolten Johnson fought through the screens and contested a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Greencastle (8-13, 6-8 MPC), playing without 3 starters, got a huge game from Albright, who set a career-high of 23 points, after a 22-point effort in his previous game.  He hit four 3-pointers. Avery Horst came through with 12 points, which was also a career high total.

Jayden Rineer was on point for the Rockets, knocking down five 3-pointers and totaling 20 points., while Crouse added 16.

Greencastle-Antrim 43, James Buchanan 32: The Blue Devils defeated the Rockets in a back-and-forth non-league game Friday night at JB to put their record at 10-11 and keep their playoff hopes alive.

James Buchanan (6-15) had a strong first quarter, leading 13-8. But Greencastle held a 7-point lead by halftime thanks to Callie Izer’s 6 points. In the third, JB scored 13 of the first 14 points in the third period to take a 3-point lead, but that was erased on a Lexi Nelson three just before the buzzer.

In the fourth, Greencastle got 3-pointers from Meadow Gambacurta and Ellie Bigler put the Blue Devils up by 6, and free throws down the stretch by Kiersten Swain and Brooke Guthrie helped seal it.

Izer led Greencastle with 10 points and 9 rebounds, Bigler added 7 points and 9 boards, plus 6 steals, Gambacurta had 8 points and Swain added 7.

For the Rockets, Alexis Martin and Alivia Dorty each scored 8 points.
