Big Fourth Quarter Leads Fannett-Metal Past Hancock

With the Tigers leading 60-59 after three quarters, the Tigers defense took over in the fourth quarter converting steals into transition points as the Tigers went on to claim a 82-67 road victory at Hancock on Tuesday evening. The win snaps a 3 game losing streak for the Tigers with two games to go in the regular season.

In a fast paced first quarter, The Tigers found themselves trailing 21-17 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter the Tigers went to a 1-3-1 half court trapping defense that created problems for the Panthers. Tigers seniors Landon Arnold and Jake Coffman had three steals each in the quarter leading to 12 unanswered points to push the Tigers ahead. In the second quarter, Coffman knocked down a pair of big treys to finish with 10 points, Arnold had 8 points, sophomore Gage McClure drilled a big three, and Senior Broc Hostler dished out 4 assists as the Tigers went into the half leading 42-32.

In the second half the Tigers scored the first 5 points to push the lead to 15 points. But the Panthers came roaring back outscoring the Tigers 28-19 in the 3rd quarter. Landon Arnold had 14 points in the third quarter and Gage McClure had 5 points. The Tigers would outscore the Panthers 22-7 in the fourth quarter to bring home a hard fought victory.

Landon Arnold had a monster game for the Tigers scoring 40 points, while adding 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Jake Coffman had a solid all around performance with 13 points(3 treys), 4 assists and 4 steals. Gage McClure had 10 points. Broc Hostler was very active with 8 points(2 treys), 6 assists, 4 rebounds and a pair of steals. Evan Wingert added 7 points and 2 assists. Tucker Seibert knocked down a trey and Parker Lantz added 1 point. Lantz was tough on the boards with 6 rebounds. “It took all these guys to dig a little deeper to pull out this victory tonight. Great overall team effort,” Coffman said.

The Tigers travel to Belleville Mennonite on Friday evening for a 6:15 contest.
