Chambersburg 34, Cedar Cliff 25: The Colts won 7 bouts to 6 for the Trojans, but Chambersburg’s wins included 5 pins and a technical fall, which gave it enough points to claim a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory on Thursday night in Highland Park.

The Trojans (6-1, 4-1 MPC) are ranked No. 3 in the District 3 Class 3A team rankings. Cedar Cliff is now 8-3, 2-3 MPC).

Perhaps the biggest win for Chambersburg came at 133 pounds, where Ethan Pazkowski, who had a 4-9 record, faced Kyle Zeigler (12-10). Pazkowski took Zeigler down and was able to turn him for a pin in 0:55. A pin in just 25 seconds by Ashton Romberger at 139 gave the Trojans a 24-13 lead.

Chambersburg coach Matt Mentzer said, “Ethan’s match was the biggest shocker. He took the kid down, threw in a half and ran him right up on his head and got the pin right in front of our bench. And then Romberger pinned his guy quickly, and that gave us a boost.”

In the later bouts, the Trojans scored on a tech fall by Logan Mickey at 152 and a pin in 1:14 by Jaccob Stoner over Will White, who was 18-9 entering the match.

The other Chambersburg points came on back-to-back pins by Isaac Brambley at 107 and Cody Seabolt at 114.

“We got bonus points from Logan and a pin from Jaccob, and that was a good win for him,” Mentzer said. “Some of our better kids had tough matches, but the other guys picked them up.”

Zach Sherman, who earned his 100th career win at the Southern Tier Memorial Tournament on Friday, was defeated by Aiden Herndon, and Frank Barrientos fell 6-3 to the Colts’ Guner Hiller.
