The Tigers (2-2) found themselves trailing the visiting Rockets after one-quarter of play on Thursday evening. The Rockets shot 75% from the field in the first quarter, including four treys, while the Tigers struggled to get any type of rhythm going offensively during the opening period. F-M switched defenses in the second quarter holding the Rockets to seven points in the quarter. The Tigers struck for (15) points in the period, with Broc Hostler hitting for (10) and Evan Wingert knocking down a three at the buzzer as the Tigers went into the half with a 26-25 lead.
The Tigers took control of the game in the second half behind a strong inside game from Seniors Landon Arnold and Evan Wingert. The pair accounted for 14 of 19 points in the quarter, and the Tigers led 45-33 after the third quarter of play. The Tigers gradually pulled away in the fourth quarter to take down the Rockets 62-42 in an ICC cross-division victory.
Evan Wingert led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Landon Arnold had 15 points, and Broc Hostler had 13 points. Parker Lantz had 5 points, Colton Daniel 4 points, while Tucker Seibert and Gage McClure each chipped in 2 points. Broc Hostler had an exceptional night running the offense with a season-high (10) assists. Hostler also had 4 steals, while Arnold and Wingert each had 3. Arnold added to his solid all-around night with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Lantz added 4 rebounds.
Zander Ritenour led the Rockets with 14 points, while Riley Fazenbaker added 11.
The Tigers return to action on Monday evening at Mount Union.
