Chambersburg 3, Waynesboro 0: The Trojans, ranked No. 4 before the match in the District 3 Class 4A rankings, hosted the No. 8 Maidens on Monday night in a non-league showdown at CASHS Field House, and Chambersburg dominated.
The Trojans (16-3) picked up wins of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-14 over a quality ‘Boro team (14-4).
Chambersburg, which ended its regular season by winning 15 of its last 16 matches, will now host a District 3 first-round playoff match on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with the opponent yet to be determined.
“What a great win on our Senior Night,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “And, indeed, all of our seniors led the way.”
Cami Bender led in service points with 15, while Marah Lehman had 12 points and Karley Skultety and Ava Zeigler each had 6.
Frelin said, “We dominated at the service line, we controlled the net, and we converted so many points from out-of-system. We definitely kept Waynesboro off balance from a variety of attacks from front and back row.”
Alayna Jones was the kills leader with 15, Lehman put down 9 and Riley Evans had 4. In blocks, Nizaya Hawkins had 4 and Kasey Moser had 2.
Also, Zeigler had 28 assists, and in digs, Lehman had 13, and Bender and Jones each had 9.
“The fans and the CASHS Crazies brought a ton of energy to the gym,” Frelin said. “It was a great night of volleyball.”
