State College 3, Chambersburg 0: The Little Lions treated the visiting Trojans rudely Tuesday evening in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match, blanking Chambersburg and putting a stop to a 7-match winning streak.

“We didn’t play our best today and State College took advantage,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “They served really well, which kept us out of system  for much of the match. We made a lot of uncharacteristic errors tonight and a good team will make us pay.”

State College won games of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-13.

Statistics leaders for Chambersburg (8-3, 3-3 MPC) included Riley Evans (4 service points, 2 blocks, 5 kills); Cami Bender (3 points, 10 digs); Nizaya Hawkins (3 blocks); Alayna Jones (9 kills); Marah Lehman (4 kills); Ava Zeigler (22 assists); and Karley Skultety (16 digs).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, CD East 50: It was as easy as a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet could be for the Trojans on Tuesday afternoon, because the host team, Central Dauphin East, did not have any girls on its team.

Chambersburg (4-0, 4-0 MPC) ran only its junior varsity team. The top finishers were Addi Williams, Annamarie West, Lydia Willson, Kayla Angle and Elli Rife.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, CD East 50: Panthers’ runners finished first and third, but they were the only East runners in the meet, giving the Trojans an easy Mid Penn Commonwealth win Tuesday afternoon.

“Cole Lehman, a good ninth-grader, was the only one of our guys who ran hard, and we were happy with his second place,” Chambersburg coach John Ambrosio said.

The next group for the Trojans (3-1, 3-1 MPC) had 6 runners finish together — Liam Kirkpatrick, Julian Clark, Aiden Alleman, Kaden Rife, Brian Morales and Boston Vincenti.

BOYS SOCCER
Central Dauphin 3, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans stayed in the game, down 2-1, until late in the game, but fell to the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Linglestown on Tuesday.

“I was pleased with the work ethic and attitude we brought to the game,” Trojan coach Corey Grove said. “CD has some incredible players up top and it was tall task keeping them  contained. They controlled most of the tempo, but our boys stayed organized and played well. When it was still 2-1, we gave ourselves a few chances to equalize.”

Central Dauphin (4-2-1) led in shots (12-6) and corner kicks (7-4). Goalkeeper Gio Barberio made 5 saves for Chambersburg (3-6-1, 1-3-1 MPC).

Grove said, “With our team battling some injuries, I thought our young guys played well.”

GIRLS SOCCER
Central Dauphin 5, Chambersburg 0: The Rams managed only a 1-0 halftime lead, but turned it on in the second half for a Mid Penn Commonwealth win over the Trojans Tuesday night at Trojan Stadium.

“At was 1-0 at the half and we had a solid performance in terms of creating chances,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said. “Unfortunately, we didn’t capitalize on them.

“We fell apart defensively in the second half — we gave up an early goal and our confidence went with that. We will be working on some improvement for when we play CV on Thursday.”

Chambersburg is 3-4-2 (2-3-1 MPC), while CD is 7-0-1.
