Fannett-Metal Scores Road Victory Over Everett

Fannett-Metal (8-3) won their 7th straight game with a 2-0 ICC league victory over the Everett Warriors.

The Tigers scored one run in the 4th inning and added an insurance run in the 6th inning to secure the 2-0 road win.

Two runs were enough run support tonight for Tiger right-hander Landon Arnold. The junior fired a two-hitter with 13 punchouts while issuing only two walks. He attacked the strike zone all game long, sitting the Warriors down in order in five straight innings. Arnold pitched 6.2 innings before handing the ball over to Wade Appleby to record the final out via strikeout.

Everett lefty Brent Sherwood was also tough on the hill.  He gave up two unearned runs while scattering five hits and issued three walks.  Sherwood had 10 strikeouts.

The Tigers got on the board in the 4th when Arnold singled and eventually stole second to move into scoring position.  With two outs, Daxten Detweiler hit a ground ball in the infield.  The Everett defender overthrew the first baseman, allowing Arnold to score to take the lead.

The Tigers added a run in the 6th inning. After two outs, Appleby and Detweiler both singled to put runners at first and second.   Adam Hammond hit a ground ball that was misplayed by the 3rd baseman, allowing Appleby to score from first.

F-M will host Everett on Tuesday at 4:30.
