G-A roundup: Track & field teams swamp Bubblers

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 90, Boiling Springs 51: The Blue Devils piled up a 44-10 advantage in field events to hand the Bubblers a Mid Penn Colonial defeat at Kaley Field on Thursday afternoon.

Jaylynn Schmuck and Lily Kauffman led the way by winning two events each. Schmuck took the long jump in 15-5.5 and the triple jump in 33-6, and Kauffman came through to win the shot put in 27-1.5 and the javelin in 106-8.

Bailey Hurley was the winner in the discus with a heave of 105-0.

Claire Paci picked up wins in the 800 (2:31.5) and the 1600 (5:45.4) for Greencastle (2-0, 2-0 MPC). Other track winners were Anna Sullivan in the 400 (1:03.6) and Kadence Abbott in the 300 hurdles (55.5). G-A also took first in the 4 x 400 relay, with Hailey Baker, Sullivan, Schmuck and Paci clocking in at 4:21.6.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 93, Boiling Springs 48: Like the girls, the Blue Devils used a huge margin in the field events (41-13) to spark a Mid Penn Colonial win over the Bubblers on Thursday afternoon at Kaley Field.

Connor Rennekamp picked off wins in the shot put (44-2) and discus (133-7) for Greencastle (2-0, 2-0 MPC), while Chase Davidson won the javelin with a throw of 157-6.

G-A also won the long jump (Carter Coons in 18-9.5) and the high jump (Will Schaeffer in 5-10).

On the track, Hayden Parks earned wins in the 1600 (4:26.1) and 3200 (9:49.2), and anchored the winning 4 x 800 team of Nathan Parks, Logan Bohrer and Joel Amstutz to a time of 9:25.1.

Other winners included Mason Gelsinger in the 300 hurdles (45.0), the 4 x 100 relay team of Trent Merillat, Iyshone Coleman, Jameir Simms and Nolan Carr (45.7) and the 4 x 400 relay team of Austin Nelson, Jordan Hunt, Coleman and Carr (3:39.3).

Games postponed: Greencastle’s games against Big Spring were postponed by the weather on Thursday. Makeup dates have not been set yet.
