Fannett-Metal Shuts Out Berlin Brothers Valley 9-0

The Tigers (2-3) hosted the Mountaineers (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon in a nonleague contest.
Right-hander Wade Appleby pitched for the Tigers. The Tigers junior turned in a solid overall performance, recording the complete-game shutout. With a solid defense behind him, Appleby sat the Mountaineers down in order in 5 of 7 innings. He allowed 3 hits, 0 walks, and 6 Ks. Senior catcher Drew Goshorn threw out two of those base runners.
Offensively, the Tigers have struggled to get timely hits early in the season. Tonight would be a different story, as the Tigers scored in every inning but the first. The Tigers recorded 10 hits off Mountaineers Pitchers Craig Jarvis and Parker Black. They also displayed patience at the plate by drawing 10 walks.
Juniors Adam Hammond and Broc Hostler led the way offensively, each with a pair of hits.  Junior Landon Arnold and Hostler had a pair of RBIs.  Junior Jake Coffman had a stellar night at the plate, reaching base five times, swiping 3 bases, and scoring 3 runs.  He also stroked a double in the game.  Sophomore Noah Naugle also had a good night, reaching base three times and scoring 3 times with 2 stolen bases. Other Tigers recording a hit were Drew Goshorn, Ayden Ryder, and Daxten Detweiler.
The Tigers will play their third game of the week when they visit Southern Huntingdon on Friday evening at 4:30.
