The Southern Fulton Indians (3-0, 1-0) defeated the Everett Warriors 8-3 on Monday. Everett scored one run in the top of the first inning after a single and a bases-loaded walk.
Everett added one run in the second thanks to a double, making the score 3-0.
Ethan Powell singled after a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped Southern Fulton tie the game at three in the bottom of the fifth.
SF turned the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits to take an 8-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Powell (1-0) earned the win for the Indians. The senior righty gave up two hits and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Paul Hendershot opened the game for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. He allowed three hits and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking four.
Powell, Hunter Ward, and Mark Fitz each collected two hits for Southern Fulton. Powell, Ethan Mellott, Ward, Fitz, and Hendershot each drove in one run for the Indians. The Indians were patient at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Ward, Joel Fitz, and Fitz led the team with two walks each.
Southern Fulton will play at home on Wednesday against Fannett Metal in another ICC South contest.
