GIRLS BASKETBALL
Cumberland Valley 30, Chambersburg 25: The Trojans were outscored 12-2 in the second period by the Eagles and that proved to be a little too much to overcome in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at CASHS Field House on Wednesday night.
“We led most of the first quarter (it ended 7-7),” Chambersburg coach Jamiur King said. “We just had one bad quarter of turnovers (in the second period). I’m really proud of the way the girls played tonight. On back-to-back nights, we played really hard.”
The Trojans (5-14, 3-9 MPC) outscored CV 16-11 in the second half.
King said, “We are getting better. Tonight we were able to make adjustments ‘in game’ and execute. The more we play together, the better we’ll be, which is evident by last night and tonight’s game.”
Ella Parker made 5 of 6 free throws and led Chambersburg with 9 points. Emily Forrester and Riley Evans each totaled 7 points.
For the Eagles (5-13, 5-7 MPC), Payton Basehore led with 9 points.
