Greencastle-Antrim 47, Mifflin County 33: The Blue Devils trailed the Huskies 21-18 at halftime, but Haley Noblit had a hot second half and the defense allowed only 12 points as Greencastle won the James Buchanan Tournament title on Saturday evening.

Noblit, the tourney’s Most Valuable Player, scored 15 of her 16 points in the second half, and for the game connected on 9 of 11 free throws. She added 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

“I told them we’d come back in the second half and they bought into it,” G-A coach Mike Rhine said. “We played with much more confidence, especially on defense, and held them to just 12 points. We looked entirely different.”

Ainsley Swindell scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Greencastle (2-0). Eva Martin had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, and Kylie Kerns had 6 points, 5 boards and 3 steals.

Rhine said, “Eva Martin made All-Tourney, and Ainsley deserved it, too, but you never have three players from one team make it. We have a lot of good players and it’s tough to find minutes for everybody.”

BOYS BASKETBALL
Mifflin County 43, Greencastle-Antrim 34: The Blue Devils totaled 20 points in the fourth quarter, but had only 14 in the first three periods, and that wasn’t enough to take down Mifflin County.

The Huskies captured the Greencastle Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday night thanks to a stingy defense.

The Huskies (2-0) led 8-3 after one quarter, 21-11 after two and 29-14 after three.

Jordan Hunt hit a pair of threes for the Blue Devils (1-1) in the final period and Carter McCauley scored 5 of his 10 points, but Mifflin County had too big of a lead.

Conner Wright led the Blue Devils with 13 points. For teh Huskies, Evan Strohecker tallied 10 points.
