Greencastle-Antrim 1, Northern York 0: The Blue Devils played an excellent defensive game, defeated the Polar Bears and wrapped up the Mid Penn Colonial Division championship on Wednesday night in Dillsburg.

The game’s only goal came just before halftime after a corner kick by Greencastle (12-0-2, 11-0-1 MPC). Ewan Coy passed it to Cooper Noblit, who knocked it past the defense and into the net.

“What a tremendous matchup,” G-A coach Aric Bruner said. “We withstood their surge in the first 10 minutes and then began to settle in and exchanged attacks.

“In the second half, (goalkeeper) Ethan Ford and the defense did just enough to keep the clean sheet. That was a gutsy effort by Ford — everything that touched his gloves just stuck.”

Ford made 16 saves, while his counterpart, Sam Kessinger, made 5. It is the Blue Devils’ first Colonial title since 2017.

Northern York 5, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Polar Bears defeated the Blue Devils for the second time this season, putting away a close game with three goals in the final 10 minutes of their Mid Penn Colonial clash at Kaley Field on Wednesday night.

“It was a close game until the last 10 minutes or so, when they put in a flurry of goals,” G-A coach Chris Noblit said. “We had a great defensive performance until the end, when things just fell apart.”

The game was scoreless at the half, then Northern scored twice to go up 2-0. Haley Noblit scored for the  Blue Devils (11-3, 10-2 MPC) to make it 2-1 before the Bears’ late rally.
