BOYS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 4, Gettysburg 1: Caleb Baine had a hand in 3 second-half goals to lift the Blue Devils to a Mid Penn Colonial victory over Gettysburg on the road Monday night.
“This is a big week for us and we didn’t want to look ahead,” Greencastle coach Aric Bruner said. “It was a complete effort from the whole team.”
Nolan Sullivan scored to give G-A (11-0-2, 10-0-1 MPC) a 1-0 lead at halftime. Baine scored two goals a minute and a half apart in the second half, one assisted by Sullivan and the other on a free kick, to make it 3-0.
Five minutes after a Warrior score, Baine assisted on a goal by Cooper Noblit. Ethan Ford made 12 saves for the Blue Devils.
Bruner said, “Ford had his best game of the year — he made a couple key saves in the first half. After the break, our boys were determined to attack. Baine, Noblit and Sullivan each had huge second halves.”
GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 2, Gettysburg 1: Haley Noblit didn’t waste any time reaching a big milestone on Monday night at Kaley Field.
Less than 60 seconds into the Mid Penn Colonial game against the Warriors, Noblit, a senior forward, put the ball into the back of the net for the Blue Devils — it was her 100th career goal.
After Gettysburg came back to tie the score 1-1, Noblit scored again midway through the second half to put her team ahead for good. Greencastle is 11-2 (10-1 MPC) and has won 8 straight games.
