HARRISBURG — Susquehanna Township jumped on Greencastle-Antrim early in their Mid Penn Colonial football game, scoring on the second play from scrimmage on a 46-yard run by Dorian Smith.
And the Indians (5-2, 3-1 MPC) kept the advantage over the Blue Devils (5-2, 2-2 MPC) all night, completing a 25-0 shutout on Friday night at Roscoe Warner Stadium.
“We gave up two quick scores and had a tough time getting into rhythm offensively,” G-A coach Devin McCauley said.
Susquehanna also scored on their second possession, when quarterback Torin Evans ran it in from 8 yards. In the second period, he connected with speedy Lex Cyrus for a 65-yard strike, and the pair teamed up again in the third period for a 42-yard touchdown.
Evans was 12-for-18 for 178 yards, Cyrus caught 8 balls for 144 yards and Smith ran 14 times for 141 yards.
McCauley said, “Our kids played hard, but tonight wasn’t our night. We’ll regroup and get back to work next week (the Blue Devils host Gettysburg).”
Logan Alvey completed 12 of 23 passes, but for only 63 yards. The Indian defense held Greencastle to just 33 yards on the ground for 96 total yards.
