Gettysburg shuts down Shippensburg 13-0

The Gettysburg Warriors (3-3 overall, 2-1 MPC) knocked off the Shippensburg Greyhounds (2-4, 1-2) 13-0 on Homecoming night.

A bad punt late in the first half bounced off a Shippensburg blocker to set up Connor Hazel’s 30 yard field goal for the Warriors.

Gettysburg took the second half kick and drove 59 yards in eight plays.  Hazel hit from 26 for a 6-0 lead.  The Warriors iced the game with a 14 play 78-yard drive ending with Brady Heiser’s 7 yard run.

The Warriors defense stifled Shippensburg and held them to 102 total yards in the game, but the Hounds did have two good chances to score.  One in the first half driving to the Gettysburg 14, but got no closer as two runs lost 14 yards and two passes were incomplete.  In the second half after the Warrior touchdown drove to the 15, but four incomplete passes ended the drive.

The Hounds were lead on the defensive side of the ball by Noah Garvin 19 tackles (8 solo), Everson Weller 21 tackles (9 solo, 3 for loss, a sack and pass break up) and Christian Wenner for 15 tackles (13 assisted) and three pass break ups.

The Hounds travel to Mechaincsburg this Friday.
