The committee for the Chambersburg Athletics Hall of Fame announced its intentions recently to induct its initial class of honorees in September of 2024.
And while the committee will continue working on preparations for that event, now is the time for the community to get involved.
The committee is asking for your help in two ways: (1.) any community member may nominate a person for the Hall of Fame, and (2.) donations will be accepted to help offset the cost of the banquet and the permanent Hall of Fame display in the lobby of the CASHS Field House.
Nominations will be taken from Sept. 28 through the end of January, and the voting committee will use those nominations to help decide on the list of inductees for the first year.
The class of honorees will be made public in the spring.
Nominees can be a player (who has been out of school for 10 years), a coach (who has been out of coaching for 5 years), a contributor, or a legacy choice (pre-1960).
A nomination form has been created. It has space to provide the nominator’s name, the nominee’s name and contact information (if known), and any accomplishments (if known).
The form will be made available in several different ways and sites:
- A table will be set up at home athletic events, beginning with this Thursday’s home football game vs. Cumberland Valley. The table will be located near the main entrance.
- A poster near the table will have a QR code that can be used to print the form.
- Forms will be available in the CASHS Athletic Office.
