The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers scored two goals in the game’s final 10 minutes and staved off Heritage Academy’s upset bid, 3-2, Tuesday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.
The Blazers (11-2-1, 7-2 MDCC) fell behind 2-0 in the first half before Landon Kellogg got them on the board.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Gabe Beckering prevented Heritage (1-8 MDCC) from expanding its lead.
“Gabe was player of the match,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “He had two remarkable point blank saves in the first half.”
The game remained 2-1 throughout most of the second half until Gage Brookens pushed in a goal to tie it. Later, when the game appeared headed to overtime, Christian Booher drilled the game-winner.
Kellogg, Bradley Stayman and Titus Hott recorded assists for the Blazers. Beckering wound up with 20 saves.
